Five young and energetic dancers of the city short-listed from the many who participated for the “Bangalore Can Dance” show, got the chance to portray their talent at a dance off. This took place in front of the stars of the new Bollywood movie ‘ABCD 2’ for a cash prize of Rs 25 thousand here at the Orion Mall on June 13th.
The show, presented by the popular radio station, RED FM 93.5, was judged by Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor and dance master, Prabhu Deva.
The actors were amazed by the performers who showcased their talents in styles like Hip-Hop, Kathak, Contemporary and Belly dancing. “I didn’t expect this type of dancing. It was all superb. Too good,” Prabhu Deva said.
Ankita Sharma who did a fusion of Contemporary and Hip-Hop on the song ‘Sun Sathiya’ of ABCD2, was declared the winner of the show.
“Mixed emotions were controlling me. The thought of dancing in front of the stars got me all worried and I felt my confidence was slipping away but I was literally on cloud nine when Shraddha Kapoor grabbed the microphone after my performance and said I was amazing. My co-contestants were really good and I loved their performances and honestly I didn’t expect to win after watching them dance. Maybe it was my day,” said Ankita.
Praising the dancers, Varun Dhawan said, “But I have to say Bangalore does have talent and also has the best dancers in the country.” He further added, “We have been to Jaipur, Delhi, Gujarat, and we have been to all over the country but genuinely the type of dancing talent this city has is truly fantastic.”
Thousands of people crowded the mall as they hoped to get a glimpse of the stars. Namita Bhattacharjee, a fan of Varun Dhawan said, “I have been waiting for this day for a very long time. I came here 2 hours before the event so that I could find a perfect spot to get the best view of him.”
